Understand usage limits
Everyone here is on the firm's Team plan with a standard seat. It comes with a generous but limited amount of use in a set window of time. In normal day-to-day work you will rarely come near the limit, but it still helps to know how the meter works, so a heavy afternoon does not catch you off guard.
Usage refreshes on a rolling window rather than all at once. You get an amount to spend, and it resets every few hours through the day, so reaching the ceiling means waiting for the next window, not losing access. Anthropic sets the exact amount and adjusts it over time, so rather than memorize a number here, rely on what Claude shows you: it warns you as you get close and tells you when the window resets.
What you spend per message is not fixed. The most capable model and a high effort level cost more per answer than the light, quick settings. Very long conversations and large attachments add up too, because Claude re-reads the whole thread each time you send.
A few habits keep you well clear of the ceiling. Start a fresh chat when you move to a new topic instead of running one endless thread. Use the light model for quick tasks and save the heavy one for the work that needs it. If you are near a deadline and running low, drop down a model to keep going rather than stop.
